Richard Wayne Mullins was a Christian singer and songwriter. He was born on October 21, 1955 in Richmond, Indiana. He
died in a car wreck on September 19,1997.
Rich Mullins discovered music at a very early age. He took piano lessons as a child and learned many other musical instruments
as he came across them. In college, he and some friends formed a band called Zion, and they released an independent album
titled Behold the Man. They performed mainly in the Cincinnati area, where they went to the Cincinnati Bible College.
The first song on the independent album became famous when Amy Grant recorded it. It was titled Sing Your Praise to the
Lord.
Rich Mullins then moved to Nashville and started a recording career of his own. He continued to write many songs for
himself and for other artists. He is best known for writing the song Awesome God.

Rich travelled around the world performing songs and getting to know his fans. His love for all people grew, but he was
especially fond of children. He also held a special place in his heart for Native American people.
Rich Mullins went back to school in 1991. He enrolled at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He earned a bachelor's
degree in Music Education. He then moved to Tse Bonito, New Mexico so that he could teach music to Native American children.
